Traditional conferences are a thing of the past. Today’s church can’t afford to waste time and money to send you to another event that doesn’t last. Instead, 2010 ushers in a new model, investing wisely to equip the ministry of today for exponential Kingdom expansion. This year, take the next step in developing small groups as an outreach plan and as a plan for growth of spiritual health in your church.

  • Learn from the most successful small group ministry model in America – over 150% of weekend attendance meeting in small groups
  • Adapt our learnings to your church and your community – these small group essentials have been implemented around the world
  • Break through the barriers that are holding your ministry back – your plan will be uniquely tailored to your church
  • Gain valuable certification that recognizes your knowledge and credibility – two CEU credits underwritten by Rockbridge Seminary and Saddleback Church
  • Bring your entire small group team – small group pastor/point leader, coaches, community leaders, small group hosts/leaders, volunteer leaders, education pastors, even Sunday School leaders!
  • Find the Community U conference near you and register today for greatest savings!

Two simultaneous events:

  • a two-day small group conference (Friday-Saturday) for small group point leaders
  • Leader Rally gathering and training day (Saturday only) for all their small group hosts/leaders

This split schedule allows you and your entire small group team to attend one conference together while you each receive training unique to your responsibilities.

New this year for small group point leaders is the ability to get certified as a trained small group point leader. Bring back tangible evidence of your level of understanding of small group principles with two CEU credits from Rockbridge Seminary and Saddleback Church.

Small Group Point Leaders (responsible for the small group ministry of their church) – two different tracks

Friday-Saturday Conference

Prime Track – learn the foundational principles that Saddleback has used to connect over 100% of weekend attendance into small groups (in more than 3500 small groups).

Advanced Planning Track – a facilitated two-day planning process in which you draft a 12-18 month plan for your small group ministry.

Small group hosts and leaders – a rallying day of training, inspiration and alignment for small group hosts/leaders

Saturday-only Leader Rally

The day includes a kick off session of worship followed by a plenary session of high energy teaching and then two valuable workshop sessions. Your small group ministry can use this day as a rally to kick off small groups for the year, or as a unifying event to get everyone on the same page.

Small Group Point Leaders, instead of “bringing the conference back” to your small group leaders, bring them to the conference! There is simply no better way to cast vision for small groups than to involve your leaders in a high-energy environment surrounded by others who are in the trenches leading small groups. In addition, shared experiences like these will not only deepen the relationships between the members of the small group team, but everyone will walk away from Community U energized, aligned, and ready for action!

Conference Prime track (two-day track, Friday and Saturday) – if you have never been to a Saddleback small group conference, or want a refresher.

This is a highly interactive track taught by Saddleback’s small group pastor Steve Gladen. You’ll learn the principles that God has used to create one of the most successful small group ministries in the nation at Saddleback Church, one that has been successfully used in churches around the world of all sizes and virtually all denominations. In six sessions over two days you will go through how your church can start and grow a healthy small group ministry, can’t-miss principles, and how to connect your community and your church for spiritual health. These core sessions have been previous taught as Discovering Your Essentials for Healthy Groups and Determining Your Purpose – Measuring the Health of Your Small Groups, but are now combined into this Prime Track.

The Prime Track ends with an optional 1 1/2 hour session on Saturday from 1:15 – 2:45 pm, providing one-on-one training and help. Bring your questions and we will help you work through issues that are unique to your church.

Conference Advanced Planning Track (two-day track, Friday and Saturday) – if you have been to a Saddleback small group conference, and are implementing the model, but you’d like to develop a 12-18 month small group strategic action plan for your church.

This two-day track taught by working pastors will take you and your leadership team through a facilitated planning exercise that ends up with a 12-18 month action plan for your ministry, tailored to your church and ready to implement. You’ll be coached in doing some initial work before attending, and we encourage you to bring any other members of your team, staff or non-paid, who need to be invested in the ministry plan. There will be plenty of process and debrief time for you and your team to address critical issues that are integral for a successful plan for your church. Embedded in this planning process are the 50 key area learnings at Saddleback that played into the successful model that now has over more people in weekly small groups than in weekend services.

The Advanced Planning Track concludes with an optional 1 1/2 hour session on Saturday from 1:15 – 2:45 pm, providing one-on-one training and help. Bring your questions about mapping out and executing planning for your small group ministry and we will help you work through issues that are unique to your church.

Leader Rally Workshops (Saturday) – these workshops are offered in two sessions on Saturday for leaders of small groups.

Taught by working pastors active in small groups, these workshops provide leaders of small groups with essential tools for encouraging, growing, building, caring for their small group and small group members. Many of the workshops are repeated during the two Workshop sessions, so you can attend your two favorite workshops.

The Workhop Sessions conclude with an optional 1 1/2 hour session on Saturday from 1:15 – 2:45 pm, providing one-on-one training and help from workshop leaders. Bring your questions about caring for your small group and we will help you work through issues that are unique to your group.
